WHAT is MIXED MARTIAL ARTS?
Mixed martial arts (MMA) is an intense and evolving combat sport where competitors use interdisciplinary forms of fighting that include jiu-jitsu, judo, karate, boxing, kickboxing, wrestling and many others to their strategic and tactical advantage in a supervised match. Scoring for mixed martial arts events is based on athletic commission approved rules for striking (blows with the hands, feet, knees or elbows) and grappling (submission, choke holds, throws or takedowns).

LOOKING FOR MIXED MARTIAL ARTS TRAINING?
At Ramtown Karate, our Mixed Martial Arts program is based on our internationally acclaimed standup fight system. Our training methods have evolved over years of success in karate,  kickboxing, and full contact karate competitions in the US, Europe, and Asia.
Our MMA team uses throws and sweeps from a mixture of our best karate, judo, and Japanese ju jutsu techniques, combined with collegiate wrestling takedowns and throws to further propel our athletes well above the competition.
Our ground techniques are constantly evolving, pulling the best from American wrestling and a combination of Japanese, American, Brazilian, and Russian ground fighting arts.  As our team members compete, we continually shed techniques and training methods that don’t stand up to our standards, evolving by adopting new and innovative methods that are designed to dominate our competition in the ring.

STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING
Strength and conditioning is a huge factor in combat sports. Ramtown MMA team coaches have many years of athletic training behind them, and currently coach national, international, and pro level athletes.  Yesterday’s training techniques are for yesterday’s competition levels.  Cuting-edge ideas constantly challenge and affect our coaching philosophy and methods as we practice and study modern training methods from organizations such as USA Weightlifting, the US Olympic Training Center and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.  Our coaches mix new information with tried and true methods, constantly evolving to develop power, quickness, endurance, and mental preparedness.  We do not believe that the fad of cosmetic resistance training being promoted by the big gyms and workout centers today is useful for a fighter.  Our strength and conditioning program prepares our team for fighting.

The Ramtown MMA team is a positive,  cohesive team that encourages and pushes each other to achieve at ever higher levels.  Team members know each other’s names and their goals. Even our newest fighters are welcomed into the group when they show that they have come to train hard and improve.
We have competitive fighters in every weight class,  so each of our athletes gets the intensive workout they need to be fit, strong, competent, and confident.

Dreaming of being a top fight athlete while eating cream puffs and cupcakes?  Forget it!  Todays real athletes are serious about sports nutrition.  We guide our teams with our fighters' diet that enables each athlete to meet and exceed their training and competition goals.
